خُطبةُ الجمعةِ: صبر النبي محمّد عليه الصلاة والسلام
The Patience of Prophet Muhammad,
Sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam
الخُطبةُ الأولى: إن الحمد لله نحمده ونسعينه ونستهديه ونسغفره ونشكره ونعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا ومن سيئات أعمالنا من يهد الله فلا مضلّ له ومن يضلل فلا هادي له وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله الملك الحقّ المبين الذي شرّف العالمين بأشرف العالمين . وأشهد أنّ سيّدنا وحبيبنا وعظيمنا وقائدنا وقرّة أعيننا محمّدًا عبده ورسوله وصفيّه وحبيبه الصادق الوعد الأمين وإمام الأتقياء والمجاهدين وقائد الغرّ المحجّلين .
All praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, seek His forgiveness and guidance and we seek refuge with Allah from our own evil and ill doings. The one Whom Allah guides no one shall be able to misguide him and the one whom Allah makes misguided no one shall be able to guide him. I testify no one is God except Allah, the owner of all and true God who clearly exists and who honored the worlds with the advent of the best of the creations. And I testify that our master, and beloved one, and the greatest amongst us, and our leader, and the one who delights our eyes, Muhammad, is the slave of Allah and His Messenger, and chosen one, and beloved one, the one who is truthful and trustworthy and the leader of the pious, those who struggle and those who will have beaming upper parts of their faces, arms and feet.
الصلاة والسلام عليك زين الأنبياء يا محمّد
Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, you are the most embellished one among the Prophets.
الصلاة والسلام عليك أصفى الأصفيا، الصلاة والسلام عليك يا بهج الضيا
Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, you are the choicest of the choicest. Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, you are the glitter of illumination.
الصلاة والسلام عليك يا عاليَ المخافر، الصلاة والسلام عليك يا فخر المنابر
Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, you are the one with the excelled traits of pride. Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, you are the one who makes the pulpits proud.
الصلاة والسلام على المقدّم للإمامة، الصلاة والسلام على المشفّع في القيامة
Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, you are the elite of the leaders. Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, the one whose intercession will be fulfilled on the Day of Judgment.
الصلاة والسلام على المظلَّل بالغمامة، الصلاة والسلام على المبشّر بالسلامة
Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, you are the one who was shaded by the cloud. Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, the one to whom Allah granted safety.
الصلاة والسلام على محمّد الرسول، الصلاة والسلام على النبي محمّد أبي البتول
Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Muhammad, the Messenger. Assalatu wa-ssalamu ^alayka O Prophet Muhammad, the father of al-Batul.
أما بعد عباد الله، فإني أوصيكم ونفسي بتقوى الله العليّ القدير القائل في كتابه العظيم:
Thereafter, O slaves of Allah I order you and myself with piety and Godfearingness. Allah the Exalted said in surah az-Zumar, 10:
(قُلْ يَا عِبَادِ الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا اتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُمْ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ وَأَرْضُ اللهِ وَاسِعَةٌ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَاب) الزمر/10 .
This verse means: say O Muhammad: O you slaves who are believers, be Godfearing; indeed those who do goodness in this world shall have a reward; and the Earth that belongs to Allah is spacious. Indeed the patient ones shall be generously recompensed.
فاتقوا الله عباد الله، وليكن قدوتكم محمّد صلوات ربِّي وسلامه عليه الذي علّم وأمر وأوذي وصبر.
Praise be to Allah and may Allah increase the honor and raise the rank of the best of the prophets, the purest creature, and the one who intercedes on the Day of Judgment; our Master Muhammad sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam.
Thereafter dear Muslims Allah told us in the honorable Qur’an that those who were patient in this world will get the greatest rewards in the hereafter.
So be God-fearing O slaves of Allah, and take heed of Muhammad, who taught people; who commanded; who was harmed and who was patient; may Allah raise his rank and protect his nation from that which he fears for it.
فهو الذي صبر وتحمّل في سبيل نشر هذا الدين العظيم، فلَمّا مات عمّه أبو طالب نالت قريش من المصطفى صلّى الله عليه وسلم ما لم تكن تناله ولا تطمع فيه حتى اعترض سفيه من سفهاء قريش فنثر على رأسه ترابًا فدخل رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم بيته والتراب على رأسه فقامت إليه إحدى بناته فجعلت تغسل عنه التراب وهي تبكي وعيناها تذرف بالدموع ورسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم يقول لها: “لا تبكي يا بنيّةُ فإنّ الله مانِعٌ أباكِ” (أي حافظ أباك).
He is the one who was patient, suffered and endured for the sake of spreading this Great Religion, when his uncle Abu Talib died the blasphemers of his tribe Quraysh inflicted harm on the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, which they were not able do it before. Once an insolent from the insolents of Quraysh confronted the Prophet, sallallahu ^ alayhi wa sallam, and sprinkled soil on his head sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam. When the prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, entered his house with the soil on his honorable head, one of his daughters rushed to him washing the soil of his head while crying and shedding tears. The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said to her:
“O daughter do not cry for Allah is protecting your father.”
ثمّ إن أبا جهلٍ قام يومًا وقال لأجلسنّ له غدًا بحجر ما أطيق حمله فإذا سجد في صلاته رضخت به رأسه فلَمّا أصبح أخذ حجرًا كما وصف ثم قعد ينتظر رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم وغدا رسول الله كما كان يغدو فلَمّا جلس احتمل أبو جهل الحجر حتى إذا دنا من رسول الله، حتى إذا دنا من أفضل خلق الله، حتى إذا دنا من احبّ الخلق إلى الله رجع منهزمًا، رجع مُنتَقَعًا لونُه، رجع مرعوبًا قد يبست يداه على حجره حتى قذفه من يده وقامت إليه رجال من قريش فقالوا ما لك يا أبا الحكم ؟ قال قمت إليه لأفعل ما قلت (أي ليرمي الحجر على رأس رسول الله ورسول الله في صلاته) قال: “قمت إليه لأفعل ما قلتُ فلمّا دنوت منه عرض لي دونه فحل من الإبل ما رأيت مثل هامته فهمّ بي أن يأكلني”. فقال صلّى الله عليه وسلّم: “ذاك جبريل لو دنا لأخذه“.
One day Abu Jahl said: Tomorrow I shall garb the heaviest rock which I can carry and then wait until Muhammad prostrates and smash his head with it. In the morning he grabbed a rock as he described and sat waiting for the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam. The Messenger of Allah went to Ka^bah as he used to do normally, when he sat, Abu Jahl approached him, and as he got closer to the best of the creations of Allah; he turned back defeated, lost the color of his face and his hands stiffened around that rock until he threw it off his hand.
The men of Quraysh came to him and said: What happened to you Aba al-Hakam? He said I charged towards him to throw the rock on his head while he was praying, as I got closer to him, a giant camel stood between me and him, I have not seen anything of its size before and it wanted to eat me. The Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said: “That was Jibril, had Abu Jahl gotten closer to me, he would have destroyed him.”
ويخرج صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى الطائف ومعه زيد بن الحارث فقط يلتمس النصرة وأقام فيها عشرة أيام فما ترك أحدًا من أشرافهم إلا اجتمع به فلم يجيبوه وسلّطوا سفهاءهم وصبيانهم عليه فقعدوا له بالطريق صفين يضربونه بالحجارة في رجليه حتى أدْمَوْهُما، ضُرب صلّى الله عليه وسلّم بالحجارة حتى نزل الدم من قدميه، بأبي أنت وأمّي يا رسول الله، نفسي فداك يا رسول الله، روحي فداك يا رسول الله، يا من أرسلك الله رحمة للعالمين، ضُرب صلّى الله عليه وسلّم بالحجارة حتى نزل الدم من قدميه وزيد يقيه بنفسه حتى شُجّ في رأسه ثم جلس صلّى الله عليه وسلّم يقول، ترى وماذا يقول ؟ لا شكّ لم يعترض على الله، لا شكّ لم يتسخّط على الله بل جلس يقول: “اللهمّ إليك أشكو ضعف قوّتي وقلّة حيلتي وهواني على الناس يا أرحم الراحمين أنت ربّ المستضعفين …” إلى أن قال صلّى الله عليه وسلم: “إن لم يكن بك غضب عليّ فلا أبالي ” الحديث .
فأرسل الله إليه جبريل ومعه ملك الجبال فقال: “إن شئت أطبقت عليهم الأخشبين” (أي جَبَلَيْ مكّة) فقال: “لا، أرجو أن يُخْرِجَ الله من أصلابهم من يعبد الله“.
The Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, headed for at–Ta’if with only one Companion, Zayd Ibn Harith, seeking support. He spent there ten days and met all of its dignitaries, however, they did not support him, instead they directed at him their insolents and kids who sat in two rows in the street throwing stones at his feet until his feet bled.
Zayd shielded him with his body until his head was wounded, the Prophet then sat down; what do you think he said? Of course he did not object to Allah’s Decree, he said: “O Allah I complain only to You for the weakness of my strength, the lack of my resources, and the demeaning way people are treating me….If I am not among those whom You have willed for to be losers, then I do not care.”
Allah then sent him Jibril accompanied by the angel of the mountains, who said to him: “If you wish I would fold the two mountains on top of them.” The Prophet said: “No, I hope that they will have off-springs among them who will worship Allah.”
ولَمّا مات ولده إبراهيم جعلت عيناه تذرفان فقال له عبد الرحمن بن عوف: وأنت يا رسول الله ؟ فقال: “يا ابن عوف إنها رحمة” ثم أتبعها بأخرى (أيْ بدمعةٍ أخرى) فقال رسول الله: “إن العينَ تدمعُ والقلبَ يحزنُ ولا نقول إلا ما يَرْضَى رَبُّنا وإنا بِفِرِاقِكَ يا إبراهيمُ لمحزونونَ “.
When his son Ibrahim died, tears came out of his eyes.
^Abdur-Rahman the son of ^Awf said: “Even you O Messenger of Allah are crying.” He said: “O son of ^Awf, it is a mercy.” He then followed it with another tear, the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, then said: “The eye sheds tears, the heart is saddened, but we do not say other than what is accepted by Allah; and we are saddened for your departure of this world O Ibrahim.”
أخي المسلم فليكن قدوتك محمّد صلّى الله عليه وسلّم وإذا ابتليت بمصيبة أو حلّت بك نكبة أو فاجعة فكن صابرًا محتسبًا ولا تفتر عن ذكر الله وقل حسبي الله لا إله إلا هو عليه توكلت وهو ربّ العرش العظيم، وإيّاك ثمّ إيّاك أن تعترض على حكم الله وقضائه وقدره فإن لله ما أعطى ولله ما أخذ ولا تتسخّط على الله فإنك تعيش في ملك الله وتأكل من رزق الله ولا تستغني طرفة عين عن الله.
Brother Muslims, take Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, as your example, and if you were to be inflicted with a calamity, disaster, or a catastrophe, then be patient while seeking the reward from Allah only. Keep on mentioning the name of Allah and say: Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa huwa ^alayhi tawakaltu wa huwa Rabul-^Arshil-^Adhim.
Hasbiyallahu means: “Allah’s support is enough for me, so every need of the person which is satisfied is fulfilled by Allah.”
La ilaha illa huwa means: “No one is God but Him.”
^Alayhi tawakaltu means: “On Him I rely.”
Wa huwa Rabul-^Arshil-^Adhim: “And He is the Lord of the Grand ^Arsh.”
* ^Arsh: The throne, the ceiling of Paradise.
Beware of objecting to what Allah has preordained and Destined for what we get and what we lose in this world all is owned by Allah, so do not object to the Decree of Allah; because you are living within the Dominion of Allah; and you are eating from the sustenance provided by Allah.
اللهمّ إنا نسألك أن تجعلنا من الصابرين القانتين وأن تثبّتنا على الرضى بحكمك وقضائك ونسألك أن ترحمنا وتغفر لنا وتتوفّانا على كامل الإيمان.
O Allah, we ask You to make us among those who are patient, and to make us steadfast to accepting what You have Destined and preordained.
We ask You also to endow Your mercy upon us and to make us die while engaged in complete Iman (Belief).
هذا واستغفر الله لي ولكم
الخطبة الثانية: إِنَّ الحَمْدَ لِلَّهِ نَحْمَدُهُ وَنَسْتَغفِرُهُ وَنَسْتَهْدِيْهِ وَنَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا، مَنْ يَهْدِ اللهُ فَلاَ مُضِلَّ لَهُ، وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلاَ هَادِيَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلهَ إِلا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسْولُهُ، صَلَواتُ اللهِ وَسَلامُهُ عَليْهِ وَعَلَى كُلِ رَسْولٍ أَرْسَلَهُ.
أما بعد عباد الله أوصيكم وأوصي نفسي بتقوى الله العظيم.
يقول الله تعالى في كتابه العزيز:
(يَآ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُواْ رَبَّكُم إِنَّ زَلزَلَةَ السَّاعَةِ شَئٌ عَظِيمٌ، يَومَ تَرَونَهَا تَذهَلُ كُلُّ مُرضِعَةٍ عَمَّآ أَرضَعَت وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَملٍ حَملَهَا، وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سُكَارَى وَمَا هُم بِسُكَارَى ولَكِنَّ عَذَابَ اللهِ شَدِيدٌ) سورة الحج / 1-2.
واعلَموا أنَ اللهَ تَعَالَى أَمَرَكُم بِأَمرٍ عَظيمْ أَمَرَكُم بِالصَّلاةِ وَالسَلامِ عَلَى نَبِيِّهِ المُصّطَفَى الكَريمْ فَقَالَ رَبُنَا وَهُوَ أَصْدَقُ القَائِلين:
(إِنَّ اللهَ وَمَلآئِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَآ أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسْلِيمًا) سورة الأحزاب / 56.
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى ءَالِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى ءَالِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحمَّدٍ وَعَلَى ءالِ مُحمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى ءَالِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ.
اللَّهُمَّ إنَّا دَعَونَاكَ فاستَجِبْ لَنَا دُعَاءنَا فاغْفِر اللَّهُمَّ لَنَا ذَنَوبَنَا وإسرَافَنَا في أمرِنَا، اللَّهُمَّ اغفِر لِلمؤمنينَ والمؤمِنَات الأحياءَ مِنْهُمْ والأموَاتْ، رَبَنَا ءاتِنَا في الدُنيَا حَسَنَةً وفي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَار، اللَّهُمَّ اجعَلنَا هُدَاةًً مُهتَدين غَيرَ ضَالينَ ولا مُضِّلين، اللَّهُمَّ استُر عَوراتِنا وءامِنْ رَوعَاتِنَا واكفِنا مَا أهَمَنَا وَقِنَا شَرَ مَا نَتَخوَف.
عِبَادَ الله إِنَّ اللهَ يَأمُرُ بِالعَدلِ والإحسَانِ وإِيتَآءِ ذِي القُربَى ويَنهَىَ عَنِ الفَحشَآءِ والمُنكَرِ والبَغِي، يَعِظُكُم لَعَلَّكُم تَذَكَّرُونَ. أُذكُروا اللهَ العَظيمَ يَذكُرُكُم واشكروهُ يزدكُم، واستغفروهُ يَغفِر لَكُم واتقُوهُ يَجعَل لَكُم مِنْ أَمرِكُمْ مَخرَجًا، وأقِم الصَّلاة.
