Allāh is free from being attributed with the attributes of creations that are known to us and attributes of creations that are not known to us. He does not resemble anything in anyway and He is attributed with hearing and sight.
The author, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said mentioning some of the attributes of Allāh: “Allāh is alive and everlasting He is not taken by somnolence or sleep.”
The explanation: The Alive, when attributed to Allāh, means the one who is attributed with an eternal and everlasting life that is not composed of soul, flesh, or blood because Allāh is not a body. Allāh exists without a how and without a place.
Allāh is free from being attributed with the attributes of creations that are known to us and attributes of creations that are not known to us. He does not resemble anything in anyway and He is attributed with hearing and sight.
The term Qayyoum means that Allāh manages the creations, Allāh manages their matters in accordance to His eternal knowledge and His management is eternal also, just as the rest of His attributes.
The term Qayyoum does not mean that He, The Exalted, is dwelling in His creations, this is what those who liken God to His creations say and some of the false sufis say, and they are considered by the jurists and the true sufis as blasphemers not muslims and not believers.
Whoever believes that Allāh resides in a place like the sky for example or sitting on the throne or moves from one place to another or moving or still or spread out like the air, all of that is blasphemy and whoever believes that has to say the testification of faith to return to Islam.
Some of the scholars explained the term Al-Qayyoum to mean the one who is everlasting, the one who does not change and the one who’s attributes do not change.
The term sinah means drowsiness. Sleep is when the person becomes unconscious therefore not hearing the speech of those around him.
Allāh is free from being attributed with any of that and from the rest of the attributes of the creations.
Allāh revealed in the verse of Al-Kursiyy in the chapter of Al-Baqarah
الله لا إله إلا هو الحيُّ القيوم لا تأخذه سنةٌ ولا نوم
Which means Allāh there is no God except Him the one who is attributed with life and everlastingness, He is not taken by somnolence or sleep.
