The minimum obligatory washing of the dead is to remove the najas-filth) i.e. if it was on his body, (and to use) pure and (purifying water to wash) i.e. fully bathe, (the deceased’s whole) body, (skin and hair, even if the hair was thick, one time.) The better is to wash him three times.
(The minimum obligatory shroud) for the dead person, (is that which covers the whole body.) except the head of a man who died in the state of Ihram and the face of a woman who died while in the state of Ihram, for they are not to be covered. (Three wraps are used for the person who died leaving an inheritance exceeding his debts,) or he did not have any debts due on him, (provided he did not leave a will advising not to wrap him in three wraps.) If the deceased person instructed not to wrap in three wraps what is obligatory in his regard is to shroud him him in that which covers the whole body.
