(The) definition of (unlawful “haram” is what Allah threatened its committer), i.e., the one who does it, (with punishment), i.e., its committer is deserving of punishment in the Hereafter, (and promised its avoider with reward) for obeying the orders of Allah. (The) definition of the (obligatory ‘wajib’ is its opposite), i.e., that which Allah promised reward for the one who does it for complying with the orders of Allah, and threatened the one who neglects doing it with punishment.
