Mission Statement and Objectives
Islamic Affairs strives to implement the teachings of Islam as per the guidance of the Qur’an and as practiced by Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama^ah, those who adhere to the methodology of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam.
The most important objective of Islamic Affairs is to spread the correct knowledge of the Religion—teaching Muslims and non-Muslims about Islam—by spreading the Islamic Obligatory Knowledge and supporting it with clear evidence.
Islamic Affairs set its objectives with the realization that victory over evil, triumph over heinous terrorism and prevalence of true and realistic moderation can only be achieved by spreading religious education and propagating goodness among people—knowing that society can only be reformed through piety and fear of Allah.

The Migration (al-Hijrah)

The Great and Precious Lessons

I Praise Allah the Lord of the worlds, to Him belong the Everlastingness and the befitting Attributes. May Allah raise the rank and increase the honor of our great Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, and protect his Muslim nation from that which he fears for it.

Thereafter, another lunar year has passed and 1431 H is about to begin to remind us of the glorious memory of the great day in which the Prophet migrated to al-Madinah. The blessed Migration displayed an honorable strife for human excellence and contained several lessons of patience, forbearance, knowledge and wisdom; an enrichment for future generations to implement and use to iron out difficulties and overcome hardships and learn to persevere.

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

PREFACE

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, Who honored the nation of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, with the Glorious Qur’an and protected it from perversion. We humbly ask Allah to raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, whom Allah sent to call the people and the jinn to the Correct Path.  We ask Allah to raise the rank of the kind Al [1] and Companions of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, and to protect his nation from what he fears for them.

The Science of Tafsir (^Ilm at-Tafsir), which is the knowledge of the interpretation of the Qur’an, is an honorable knowledge with which one is enabled to comprehend the precious meanings of the Glorious Qur’an.  The Science of Tafsir leads to the proper deduction of the religious judgments contained in the Qur’an and to the benefit of taking lessons from the stories narrated therein.  Moreover, this science explains the reasons behind the revelation of its verses (ayahs), addresses subjects such as whether the verses were revealed in Makkah (Makkiyyan) or in al-Madinah (Madiniyyan), whether they have one clear meaning (muhkam) or have more than one meaning and require a proper deduction of an appropriate meaning (mutashabih), abrogating (nasikh) or abrogated (mansukh), specific (khas) or general (^am), and whether they contain a threat of castigation (wa^id) or a promise of reward (wa^d), and many other benefits.

The Beauteous Fragrances

Of Celebrating the Birth of Prophet Muhammad

صلى الله عليه وسلم

Milad An-Nabiyy

An Iridescence of Bliss

Selected and Translated by Riad Nachef

 First Edition      February 2001

Printed and Distributed by Riad Nachef

  FOREWORD

This compilation that I called "The Beauteous Fragrances of Celebrating the Birth of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم Milad An-Nabiyy An Iridescence of Bliss" is a humble selection from the writings and sayings of some of the great scholars of the People of Truth, Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama^ah, among the Ash^ariyys and the Maturidiyys, and is primarily based on the work of His Eminence, Shaykh ^Abdullah al-Harariyy entitled:

 Ar-Rawa’ih Az-Zakiyyah Fi Mawlid Khayr al-Bariyyah

(The Beauteous Fragrances of Celebrating the Birth

of the Best of the Creations)

Most Muslims today are Ash^ariyys who are the followers of Imam Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ash^ariyy and they are of the Shafi^yy school of thought. A significant number of Muslims are Maturidiyys who are the followers of Imam Abu Mansur Al-Maturidiyy and they are of the Hanafiyy school of thought. Both schools reflect the one and same creed of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama^ah.
